Health and safety poster now required in Ontario workplaces

(Aug. 29/12) Ontario workplaces are now required to put up a “Health & Safety at Work: Prevention Starts Here” poster, under the Ontario Health and Safety Act (OHSA). Ministry of Labour inspectors will begin enforcing this requirement on Oct. 1, 2012.

About the poster
The poster summarizes workers’ health and safety rights and responsibilities, as well as the responsibilities of employers and supervisors. It reminds employers they must not take action against workers for following the Act,raising workplace health and safety concerns, or seeking OHSA enforcement. The poster encourages workers to get involved in health and safety, and explains when to contact the Ministry of Labour.
